چکیده

Prolonged immobilization results in several physiological problems. It has been demonstrated that standing exercises can ameliorate many of these problems. Standing exercises can be performed efficiently with the help of functional electrical stimulation (FES). A novel robotic mechanism which aids the unsupported standing of paraplegics, providing balancing exercise has been developed. The balancing strategy is based on voluntary activity of the paraplegic's upper body and artificially controlled stiffness in the ankles.

Understanding stand-to-sit maneuver: implications for motor system neuroprostheses after paralysis.

Standing up, standing, and walking functions can be restored to people with spinal cord injury by contracting the paralyzed hip, knee, and ankle muscles with electrical stimulation. Restoring these functions using electrical stimulation requires controlled activation to provide coordinated movements. However, the stand-to-sit (STS) maneuver involves eccentric contractions of the quadriceps to c...

Comparison of ground reaction forces and the amount of load introduced during crossover landing in people with flat foot and healthy individuals

Introduction: Investigating the risk factors during single crossover landing in people with flat foot complication is unknown. Therefore, the aim of the present study is to compare the ground reaction forces and the amount of load introduced during crossover landing in people with flat foot and healthy individuals.   Methods: The study method is descriptive-comparative. Twelve male subjects w...

بررسی اثر خستگی بر تعادل در ورزش‌کاران با کف پای صاف

Objectives: Considering that feet are the lowermost body part and provide a relatively small balancing area within the reliance surfac (especially while standing on one foot), it seems that minor biomechanical changes within the reliance surface could affect posture control strategy, which can be exacerbated in fatigue conditions. Objective: The aim of this research was to investigate effect ...

The effect of knee orthosis on co-contraction values of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with knee deformity in the frontal plane.

Background and Aims: the use of knee orthosis changes the mechanics of running. One of the important biomechanical factors in rehabilitation and injury prevention is co-contraction of knee and ankle joints. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of knee orthosis on changes in the contraction of knee and ankle muscles during running in people with genu varum. Mat...

The Effect of Corrective Exercises on Pain, Function, Proprioception, and Muscle Activity in People with Glenohumeral Internal Rotation Deficit (GIRD)

Background and Objectives: Glenohumeral internal rotation deficit (GIRD) is one of the most important risk factors for overhead-throwing athletes and adversely affects the biomechanics of the Glenohumeral joint during overhead-throwing motions. The aim of this study was to review all the articles performed in the field on the effect of corrective exercises on pain, function, proprioception, and...
